The third and final season of crime drama El Chapo just premiered in the US last week.
Based on real-life Mexican drug lord Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Loera, the hugely popular series follows the titular character’s rise to power as head of the Sinaloa Cartel and subsequent downfall.
Mexican actor Marco de la O portrays El Chapo on the show.
The series is produced by American Spanish-language network Univision and is often compared to Netflix[1]’s Narcos.
Season three contains 13 hour-long episodes.
How to watch El Chapo season 3 online
El Chapo is available to watch on the Univision website but that option is only available in the US.
The series is shown on Netflix in the UK but it will be a little while before season three is added to the streaming service here.
Season three will be available to stream on Netflix UK from July 27.
Netflix has a download function for most of its shows on smaller devices like phones and tablets.
Seasons one and two can be downloaded now and season three will be available for download on July 27.
What will happen in El Chapo season 3?
The synopsis for season three reads: “The final season of El Chapo came to Univision with much more action and a story that does not let you blink.
“Joaquín Guzmán Loera will continue to prove that he is the most powerful drug lord in the world, but he will face new enemies.”
Much like Narcos fictionalises the life of Pablo Escobar, the same can be said for El Chapo with Joaquín Guzmán Loera.
Season three of the biopic is set to span until the drug lord’s final capture, so far, in January 2017.
Is there a trailer for El Chapo season 3?
Yes - Univision released an epic trailer for season three which hints at a tense and dramatic season.
It begins with El Chapo at the height of his success - he is alleged to have controlled 34 per cent of cocaine in Colombia at one point.
Interference from the DEA eventually leads to his downfall and he is extradited to America.
Season three will focus on El Chapo as a prisoner awaiting trial.
