The Police Athletic League of Manatee County, Inc (Manatee PAL) believes that sports play a vital role in teaching our youth fundamental values like teamwork, good sportsmanship, respect for law enforcement officers, as well as a safe place where athletics and academic reinforcement instill pride, responsibility and self-confidence.
We are so pleased to announce that we are the official home for the American Youth Football (AYF) and American Youth Cheerleading (AYC) Conferences. Manatee PAL Jaguar football and cheerleading program strives to be the most affordable and outstanding sports program in Manatee County. Our youth programs, such as flag/tackle football and cheerleading, focus on the importance of education, fitness and the message of avoiding gangs, drugs, alcohol, and other negative influences. These programs teach football fundamentals, cheerleading techniques for children from the age of 5 years old to 14 years old, both boys and girls.
Through individual and team training, players will improve their abilities and be able to apply what they learn on and off the field. PAL is based on the belief that children, if reached early enough, can develop a strong, positive, attitude towards law enforcement and we believe this is an important way for youth to travel toward success in life.
The AYF/AYC is a Nationally known youth organization established in 1996, dedicated to giving back to communities by promoting the wholesome development of youth through associations with exemplary adult leaders in the sport of American football and cheer. Guidelines are established to ensure that players compete in an atmosphere of learning with a competitive balance between teams.
Manatee PAL AYF/AYC Conference is now one of the largest conferences in the Southwest of Florida; catering to Manatee, Sarasota, DeSoto and Lakewood Ranch areas. The conference currently consists of seven associations:
PAL Jaguars
Bradenton Gladiators
North Manatee Storm
Englewood Cats
Sarasota Lightning
North Port Huskies
Sarasota Ringling Redskins
All these associations are dedicated to teaching youth through positive role models. Our coaches, consisting of law enforcement officers, dedicated parents and volunteers, are required to complete certification courses conducted by outside organizations and are required to have background checks. Most coaches have some football and cheer experience and/or coaching experience.
Some of the coaches have been dedicated to our programs in the past and they emphasize that while the players are learning, playing, and enjoying the sport, they instill high moral standards by stressing the importance of academic achievement and community involvement. Fostering confidence and a sense of self-worth in players that extend beyond the gridiron and into the school, family and community.
They prepare youngsters to face the future with sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, responsibility, self-discipline, positive aspirations, academic preparedness and confidence. If we teach them positive lessons, such as playing by the rules, our young athletes will learn to live by the rules.
Information about registering your child for this football and cheerleading season can be found on PAL's website.
