Kaylin Hayman has come a long way since she performed for the first time at age 4, playing the part of a cheerleader and singing on stage.
Today, the 11-year-old Ventura native stars as Blair in a show on the Disney Channel about a newly blended family called "Just Roll With It." The show premiered Wednesday, and will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the Disney Channel and DisneyNOW.
The series follows the Bennett-Blatt family, preteen stepsiblings Blair and Owen and their parents Rachel and Byron, as they navigate everyday family life, including the ups and downs of adolescence while balancing a household of contrasting personalities.
"We are a close family," said Kaylin, who describes her character on the show as "very rebellious sometimes."

The take-away, she said, is that "we all stick together…and at the end of the show, people can walk away knowing when things go wrong, we always have a way to turn them back around."
The first-of-its-kind series is described as a hybrid of a scripted family comedy and an improvisational comedy. The studio audience has the opportunity to select the direction of key scenes.
On the show, the character of Blair is the polar opposite of her regimented but loving mom Rachel, who is a decorated military veteran and station manager for BEATZ 101.
Blair's stepbrother, Owen, is a model student who thrives when following rules and detailed schedules and tries to manage his charismatic father, Byron, an on-air radio personality on BEATZ 101.
Kaylin further described her character as "not great at school, but never really wants to fail," adding that Owen "always finds a way of reeling her back in. At the end of the day, they're always a team and stick together."
She particularly enjoys "just the surprises of everything; the scenarios they come up with are just crazy. But they're so fun…just to experience."

Although she didn't have previous experience with improv, "they were really helpful in giving us improv classes when we were rehearsing, and now we just do fun little games before the show and it helps me a lot during this whole experience."
Kaylin's new role on "Just Roll With It" is a continuation of her passion for performing, which she said began at a very young age.
After her first performance, she began appearing in commercial and print advertisements when she was 8. Kaylin later landed her first television role on the series, "One Day at a Time."
She also took the lead role of JoJo in a community theater production of "Seussical, the Musical." As a member of Ventura Youth Choir, she has performed at Knott's Berry Farm and at Universal Studios' Lights, Camera, Music! program.
In other endeavors, for the past seven years, she has played an active role in her community as a member of the Girls Scouts, earning the Bronze Award.
When she's not attending classes at Ventura Missionary School, filming on set, or playing with her 3-year-old Dutch shepherd, Roman, she enjoys taking vacations to Hawaii, skiing in Big Bear and camping with her parents and two older brothers, who are 15 and 26 years old.
"Ever since I was little, I really liked entertaining," Kaylin said. "I had a lot of energy and loved singing and dancing and putting a smile on people's faces. Since I started theater, I knew this was something I wanted to do."
