A squad of cheerleaders from Southwestern Ontario took home a silver medal from the Cheerleading World Championships.
Canada's junior co-ed team, made up of athletes from Sarnia and London between the ages of 11 and 16, finished in second place at the tournament in Orlando, Fla., last week.
"We were selected three months ago to be Team Canada and we've been practising, training on top of our original teams as well," said Garrett Skinn of the Power Cheer Gym in London.
The squad completed a two-and-a-half-minute routine, finishing behind only Thailand.
Four teams competed under the Team Canada banner at the annual tournament. The 17-and-older premier team, coached by Londoner David-Lee Tracey and featuring multiple local athletes, also came in second place.
