The Black Ice cheerleading team led by Nate Walker, a high school junior from New Philadelphia, will compete in the D2 Summit cheerleading competition to be held in May in Orlando.
Black Ice received a paid bid to the summit after recently winning a competition in Indianapolis. The team not only won their division but earned the highest score out of all the teams competing in their level. Teams are scored in categories including stunting, tumbling, jumps, pyramid and dance.
Black Ice has finished first in six competitions so far this year, including competitions in Louisville, Kentucky; Indianapolis, Indiana; Detroit, Michigan; and Cincinnati and Columbus. The two remaining competitions are in Buffalo, New York, and Baltimore, Maryland.
