What will happen on American Vandal season 2?
The official Netflix synopsis reads: “Having left its red spray-painted mark on pop culture with a breakout freshman season, American Vandal returns with an explosive new case, a (mostly) new cast and solid new conspiracy theories.
“Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning true-crime satire follows documentarians Peter Maldonado (played by Tyler Alvarez) and Sam Ecklund (Griffin Gluck) as they bring their investigative skills to an elite Catholic school where someone has been taking poop-related pranks to new heights.”
American Vandal is a hilarious spin on Netflix’s true crime series.
The first series is a parody of Making a Murderer where the documentarians try to vindicate a student who is blamed for drawing penises across campus.
Season two is a spoof of Netflix’s The Keepers, the streaming services doc about the murder of a nun.
In the series, Peter and Sam are called in to find the identity of “the Turd Burglar”, who caused the diarrhoea outbreak in a Catholic school.
They are also behind a number of other incidents involving human waste, including a pinata shaped like author Kurt Vonnegut full of excrement.
As with the first season, the series fellows Peter and Sam as they work their way through the suspects and discover a darker conspiracy behind the initial incident.
Among the suspects are Kevin McClain (Travis Tope), a social outcast with an obsession with tea who is the schools’ prime suspect.
However, as Sam and Peter find out, he could not have done the crime as, to quote Kevin, “I s*** my pants too.”
Season two of American Vandal has been a huge critical hit.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the show currently has a 97% rating, the the site summing up the reviews by saying: “American Vandal trades one type of potty humor for another in an ambitious second season that manages to double down on the explicit gags while subtly addressing serious social issues.”
