Training camp is rapidly approaching, and certain practices will be open to the public. For the fifth consecutive year, the Falcons will be hosting Military Appreciation Day, which honors those who have served and are currently serving our country. Special military-themed activities will be available for fans both in The Home Depot Backyard and around Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
For the first time, Military Appreciation Day will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and will mark the final open practice of the 2019 Atlanta Falcons Training Camp. The event will be held on Aug. 4, with gates opening at 10 a.m. and practice scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.Tickets for the event will be $5 per person, with proceeds benefiting the Veterans Empowerment Organization (VEO).
A special ceremony will be held prior to the start of practice to dedicate an unoccupied, permanent seat inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium to honor the more than 82,000 American soldiers who were prisoners of war or remain missing in action. The seat will be located in section 122 and sit empty for all events at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in recognition of the sacrifices made by those soldiers.
The Falcons have remained committed to honoring our veterans as a member of the organization has earned the NFL's prestigious Salute to Service Award for three consecutive years. More recently the team visited the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to thank people within the academy for all they do and to participate in leadership development activities.
Event entertainment will kick off when gates open at 10 a.m., and fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy food and beverages, cheerleader and drumline performances, as well as a host of engaging live event entertainment.
