BLOOMINGTON, Ill., Bloomington cheerleaders with the Lions Cheer Company traveled to Orlando, Florida Friday for the D2 Summit Allstar Cheer Competition.

They will be able to experience the magic of Disney World and compete against some of the nation's best cheer teams.

Lions Cheer Company cheerleader, Ali Martin, says this will be her fourth time going to the competition.

"It's an amazing experience to go down there and it's such an honor to be one of the best in the nation," Martin said.

Not every team makes it to this competition. Lions Cheer Company program director,  Amanda Wait, recognized her team's hard work and effort.

"I'm very proud of them they've worked tremendously hard all season long," Wait said.

"We've worked so hard and we want it so bad and we will do anything to get it," Martin said.

Some believe cheer isn't a sport, but Wait disagrees.

"Cheer is definitely a sport, our kids, our athletes, they are so conditioned. They are strong, they have to do stunts, tumbling,  jumps [and] dance all packed into a two and a half minute routine of tons of different skills," Wait said.

Wait hopes her team is victorious in the competition, but win or lose wants them to always remember one thing.

"Remeber why we're there and that we love cheer and ultimately at the bottom of everything that's what it is, it's the love for our sport," she said.
