Four Montclair Pop Warner Bulldogs cheerleaders were selected to the Pop Warner Eastern Region All-Academic scholar team for maintaining a 97 percent or better GPA in the classroom while performing in a physical activity during the 2018 school year. The Bulldogs selected were eighth-graders Emma Kasegrande and Kya Lewis, and seventh graders Skye Scott and Arianna Oladapo. All attend Buzz Aldrin Middle school. Kasegrande and Lewis are repeat selections from 2017.

The cheerleaders were invited to attend the Eastern region awards dinner on March 19-20 at the Marriott in Woodcliff Lake. Attending the dinner as guest speakers with words of encouragement for the young athletes were former New York Giants safety Shaun Williams and current New England Patriots Super Bowl Champion Devon McCourty.
The Bulldog scholars were also selected to the Pop Warner National All-American Scholar teams where more than 5,000 scholar-athletes are recognized for their hard work in the classroom and in the community. All-American Scholars represent the top two percent of all Pop Warner participants across the country.
"The Recreation Department and Bulldog coaches could not be more proud of our scholar-athletes," said Department Activities Coordinator Garland Thornton. "Congratulations also go out to the families of the scholars for the love and support they give their children."
The Bulldogs are looking for more scholar-athletes in cheer and football this season to add to an already long list of outstanding athletes.
The National All-American Scholar awards weekend and banquet will be held May 27-29 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland. All are invited to attend.
