FOXBOROUGH, MA — With a little help from New Patriots offensive lineman Joe Thuney and cheerleader Andrea Cadigan, the Boyden Library kick off of National Library week was a success. The event saw Thuney and Cadigan take an afternoon to read a couple books to dozens of children.

Thuney read Aimee Aryal's "Let's Go, Patriots!" and Patriots Cheerleader Andrea Cadigan read Karen Lefrak's "Sleepover at the Museum." The New England Patriots Foundation also donated 230 copies of "Let's Go, Patriots!" to the Boyden Public Library.

After the reading, Thuney and Cadigan answered questions, signed autographs and took photos with the audience. Thuney told the children that one his favorite book series is "Harry Potter."

"We had a great crowd," library coordinator Christina Metcalf said. "The kids really seemed to enjoy Joe and Andrea...There was this one little boy going around giving everyone high-fives."

National Library Week celebrates the importance of libraries in the community, and sees libraries across the country hold events to promote reading, especially for children.

"A lot of the Patriots players have said it's important to read," Metcalf said. "They can't read their playbooks without it. It's important to recognize the roles libraries play in the community."
