LEMONT, IL — Several Lemont Hornets cheerleading squads have earned a bid to state competition after performances at the Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association's Big Hit competition.
The Hornets varsity squad, which is made up of seventh and eighth graders, as well as the Light Weights squad, made up of third and fourth graders, both won first place at the competition and earned a bid to state, the organization said.
The Super Light Weights, made up of first and second graders, won second place, and also earned a bid to state.
Finally, the junior varsity team, made up of fifth and sixth graders, took first place at the Big Hit competition, according to the Hornets.
The Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association state competition will be held Dec. 6-8 at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates.
