MADISON — On Sept. 14, the Danville Hawks Majorettes competed in the first Annual Scott High School Majorette Competition.
The Hawks Twirlers put on a dazzling performance as they won first place in Military, second in Originality, and overall Grand Champions for the competition.
In addition to their team success, the following twirlers placed in their open categories:
- Makayla Lester: second Solo Twirl
- Molly Jo Green: second Solo Dance
- Molly Jo Green and Kate Mounts: first place Duo Flag
- Molly Jo Green: second place Photogenic
- Sabrina Leavitt: first place Featured Twirler
On Sept. 21, the Danville Hawks Cheerleaders competed in their first MSE Blue Conference Competition of the season. And as the old cheerleading saying goes, "They brought it!" The Hawks D-Team, B-Team, and A-Team all took home first place in the large division for all three age groups.
The Hawks C-Team had a fantastic performance and took home runner-up in the large division for their age group.
The following young ladies placed in their respective open categories:

- Alivia Kish: second place Open Gymnast
- Alivia Kish and Amelia Smith: first place Partner
- Alivia Kish: third place Open Jump
- Amelia Smith: first place Open Jump
C-Team opens
- Trista Wilder: second place Open Cheer
- Brooke Gay: first place Open Cheer
- Brooke Gay: second place Open Gymnast
- Danville: third place Stunt Group
B-Team first opens
- Jordyn McClung: second place Open Gymnast
- Jordin McClung and Macee Malcomb: first place Partner Dance
- Maria Linville: second place Open Jump
- Jordin McClung: first place Open Jump
A-Team opens
- Miley Levo: first place Open Gymnast
- Miley Levo: second place Open Jump
According to coaches and organizers, Saturday proved to be very rewarding for the young ladies of the Danville Hawks.
