Life isn't always fair or pleasant; in fact, it's anything but those things. And if you're lucky, you find people who help us get by - friends. While you might have quite a few of them, there's always that one person who proves to be your rock, and that friend that deserves to be celebrated. Why? For always having your back.
To the friend who knows and accepts that the world doesn't revolve around them. They have beautifully accepted how everything can't be about them, and that other people are important too. This friend can be a part of a story without snatching the spotlight from you, and has willfully mastered the art of choosing your happiness over their own, at least most of the time. This friend is happy standing on the sidelines and being your fiercest cheerleader, when you are busy making a mark in the world.
Here's to the friend rooting for you when there is no solid chance of you wining. Whose lone voice cheering for you to do better is the only voice that matters in a room full of people. The friend who doesn't get tired of whispering one thing over and over again, "You can do it."

Here's to same friend who show up to celebrate your smallest victory with champagne, pizza or hot dogs. They even show up for your defeat or heartbreak with vodka, beer and tubs of ice-cream. This friend will put up with a hangover at work the next day just so you could get a night of partying and drinking. And if you are ever sad over a boy or a girl for the 13675th time, this friend of yours will help you get over the same boy or girl for the 13675th time.
Here's to the friends who saw you even when you din't see yourself. To the soul sister or brother who will be the first to remind you of your past struggles that you dismiss so quickly. One who will tell you, "If you could get through that, how could you even entertain the thought for a minute that you won't pull though this?." It is the faith of this friend that makes you want to do good everyday. It' their trust that drives you back home after a day full of failure to restart your hustle all over again, the very next morning.

Here's to that friend who loves bombarding your phone with, "I'm proud of you" texts. This friend is your anchor you and your support system. This friend magically knows the right thing to say in order to get you to spring out of your bed. This friend isn't afraid of you changing because they never defined you in anyway. They never restricted you to a box or hindered your growth. The person knows you not by words, promises or gifts but with love and mutual respect.
Here's to your cheerleaders. To that friends whose selflessness is refreshing. The friend that make you want to be good because of how good they are.
