RANDOLPH, NJ- Over 600 Randolph residents (Players, Cheerleaders, Coaches, Family and Friends) attended the 2019 Bulldogs & Cheerleader Pep Rally at Freedom Park on Friday Aug. 23, a town tradition that has been ongoing since 1962.
This season the bulldogs have a total roster of 224 players, which is a 40% increase over last season. The Football Program Director is Dan Limone.
The Bulldogs Cheerleaders are 140 strong in 2019; They are led by Program Directors Coleen Barbiere and Trish Marciano.
The Bulldogs Youth Football and Cheerleader Teams are facilitated by a dedicated group of volunteers that donate an estimated 300+ hours per year to Randolph community kids. The programs would not be able to run, or be as successful as they are, without the work of these volunteers and the passion they have for Randolph Sports.
Four young Bulldog players from the 8th grade Varsity Team were awarded their nine-year player award. This award recognizes players that start in Kindergarten and play all nine years through their Varsity season. Varsity Coach Matt Blumenthal introduced the boys, and talked about how difficult this accomplishment really is and the dedication and determination it takes to practice from the heat of summer to the cold of winter. Every one of the 8th grade Varsity Bulldogs and Varsity Cheerleaders were introduced individually and thanked for their participation in the program. This is their last and final year in the Randolph Recreation Program and they will all move on to Randolph High School programs next season.
Pierce Laing was also recognized by Bulldogs Program Director Dan Limone for completing his Eagle Scout Project at Freedom Park. Pierce is a nine-year vet with the Bulldogs and choose his Eagle project to relocate the Freedom Park flagpole, and create a patio with commemorative benches dedicated to Bulldogs Hall of Fame coaches.
Laing is a student at RMS and a Scout with Randolph Troop 109 at St. Matthews the Apostle Church on Dover Chester Rd. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout on May 21, 2019 with the completion of his Eagle Project at Freedom Field. Coach Limone commended Pierce on his accomplishment and talked about how touched he was personally by the bench tribute as he is one of the Coaches honored with a plaque on the benches.
Carly Ellermeyer, an RMS seventh grade cheerleader, sang the National Anthem to honor the celebration and earned herself a resounding cheer from the crowd for her beautiful voice.
