Cheerleading coach charged with embezzlement - WDBJ7

(WDBJ7)-- Money missing from an online fundraiser brought a John Battle High School cheerleading coach under accusations of embezzlement.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Jessica Ritter-Buchanan, 24 of Bristol, VA, has been charged and arrested with felony embezzlement after school officials were alerted to the missing amount of funding that totaled about $700 from summer efforts.

The suspect was not a teacher, and was hired just as the head cheerleading coach at the school. She was released with an unsecured bond of $2,500 and awaits a court date.
