Rangers eased into the quarter-final of the Scottish League Cup yesterday with a 3-0 win over East Fife.

Goals from Jermain Defoe, Filip Helander and Joe Aribo made it a comfortable afternoon for Steven Gerrard's team.

Up next for the Gers in the competition is a trip to Livingston, with the winners progressing to the last four.

Boss Gerrard will be desperate to end Rangers' long wait for silverware and will feel his team are now close in their quest.

Winning the League Cup would be a great start to the season for the Light Blues and on current form, you wouldn't back against them.

As far as the supporters were concerned it wasn't all sweetness and light yesterday.

With Gerrard ringing some changes, it gave left-back Andy Halliday the chance to come in at left-back and stake his claim for a place in the team.

The 27-year-old joined Rangers in 2015 on a free transfer from Bradford City. In 144 games for the Gers, he has netted 18 goals and registered 12 assists.

Halliday wasn't really at the races yesterday and with lots of quality now in place around him, some fans want to see him depart the club.

Here is a selection of tweets from Rangers supporters based on the performance of their left-back yesterday:
