Former conservative congresswoman Michele Bachmann has, unsurprisingly, become a cheerleader for Donald Trump over the past couple of years. Unlike other Republicans who just ignore his lies and bigotry, Bachmann goes out of her way to pretend he's God's Gift to Humanity.
Earlier this year, she called him the most "biblical president" she's ever seen. (If she was referring to the classic line from Richard Dawkins, maybe she had a point… but she wasn't.)
Now she's doing it again.
Bachmann recently appeared on the American Pastors Network's "Stand In The Gap" radio show where she repeated her claim that Trump is somehow "biblical."
"He is, without a doubt, the most biblical president I have ever seen. I'm going to repeat that: he is the most biblical president I have ever seen in what he does. His actions are remarkable and I would ask the audience to please pray for him continually."
He has some of the most godly people surrounding him that I have ever seen, so he is deserving of that level of prayer and support and we need to provide that for him."
Keep in mind this occurred the same week he was attacking Democratic women of color in Congress because… well, they're women of color in Congress.
And the only thing "godly" about those people surrounding him in the White House is that they're nowhere to be found.
Bachmann was never considered thoughtful, but this level of delusion reinforces every bit of criticism people ever had about her — and Republicans in general. These people will gleefully link this administration with their religion thinking it'll dupe white evangelicals into supporting him, not realizing that, hopefully soon, both groups will suffer because of their alliance.
So at least she's helping that process along.
If Trump is godly, it's the best advertisement for atheism I've ever heard.
