Williamson, an instructor at the Elite Cheer School in Siloam Springs, was guest cheer coach for the Decatur Cheer Camp at Peterson Gym in Decatur July 19.

DECATUR -- "Five, Six, Seven, Eight" was the cadence that reverberated throughout Peterson Gym July 19 as members of the Bulldog cheer team worked on several new dance routines during the final day of the Decatur High School cheer camp in Decatur.

The three-day camp, July 17-19, was hosted by cheer coach Ladale Clayton. The camp was designed to introduce the new members of the team to the world of cheerleading while helping the veteran members build on their repertoire of cheer routines.

Elicia Williamson, an instructor at Elite Cheer Academy in Siloam Springs, was the guest instructor for the final two days of the event.

Williamson worked the cheerleaders through several new dance routines. Williamson started out with a set of eight different moves which she repeated several times until they began to flow smoothly. Then she added yet another set of eight moves, then another until the team completed a new and exciting dance routine.

The Decatur Bulldog cheer team will enter several competitions in the coming months before the state cheerleading competition later this year.

Family, friends and Bulldog fans will get the chance to see the cheer team in action during home football and basketball games from September through March 2020.
