FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Youth Football and Cheer (FYFC) 2019 season begins on Monday July 29, with the first practice of the season.
Home games are at Framingham State University's field on Maple Street.
"The University has been very gracious to help our youth program for the past 15 years and counting and our practice space will remain at Long field where Framingham Park and Recreation continue to deliver top services to our program," said FYFC President Jason Smith.
Some of the teams have a wait list but some of the football and cheer teams still have openings.
This year, the FYFC board of director choose two programs to support with donations.
"The first is The Why Not Devin Foundation and the second is NE Rivals Youth Programs. We are proud to donate to both organizations," said Smith.
"We have also partnered up with Pearl Street Cupboard / United Way and will do a food drive at one of our home games where we will ask all of our fans to donate goods that can help re-stock the cupboards for the wonderful community-based program," said Smith.
The FYFC program is also kicking off three fundraisers this week, said Smith. They are:
- New England Patriots Tickets for the opening game, where they lower the new Superbowl banner at the stadium
- A gigantic scratch Ticket Tree where the winner will take home $600 worth of scratch tickets ( check out the scratch ticket tree at Murphy's Ice Cream in Ashland and all our home games at Framingham State University)
- Our annual calendar raffle for the whole league to patriciate in will also get kicked off over the next few weeks
The most important item the Board of Directors continues to discuss all season long is the safety and health of our kids in our program, said Smith.
"After purchasing 40K worth of brand new helmets over the last 2 season, we continue to have our experience coaches work with our players on safe and proper fundamentals, Hawk tackling and the right way to play this great game," said Smith.
The next open meeting of the Board is scheduled for the Framingham Elks on Sunday, July 21st starting at 7 p.m.
"We are looking for new board of director with a passion for youth sports and creative idea's to help our league run smoothly. Feel free to reach out to me 508-308-7362 with any questions or ideas," said Smith.
