Here is a listing of youth sports camps being offered in Kershaw County in the coming weeks.
(Note: Pre-registration for all Kershaw County Parks & Recreation Department-sponsored camps can be made by through the department or calling 425-6009. In some instances, registration will also handled be on site before the start of the first session of camp.)
Horse Riding Camp or Lessons: Three levels of classes are being offered for those who would like to take group or individual lessons. These classes meet one day a week for four weeks and the cost is $120. Participants will become acquainted with the horse through grooming, tacking, and leading in the first level, working their way steadily towards jumping, horse show etiquette, conformation and rules of the show ring in higher levels. Information listed is for the camp dates (Monday through Friday each week).
Dates: (Beginners) June 10 - 28 (each week) and July 8 - 19 (each week)
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – noon
Location: Voxton Farm, Camden
Cost: $175
Ages: 6 - 18 years old
Registration: one week in advance by contacting the KCP&RD. You may attend your choice of half day camp at $175 a week. Lessons are available which meet one day a week for four weeks at $120 per person (by appointment)
Knights Football and Cheerleading Camp: North Central High School will host a pair of separate one-day camps in Boonetown on Saturday, July 13. Third-year North Central head football coach Tyronne Drakeford and members of his staff will hold a football camp that day while the 2019 Knights' cheerleading squad will have their cheerleading camp that same day. Drakeford won a Super Bowl ring as a rookie defensive back with the San Francisco 49ers in the 1994 season. A standout at Virginia Tech, Drakeford played eight seasons in the NFL before retiring following the 2001 season. At his camp, youngsters will be instructed in the fundamentals of football. As for the cheerleading portion of the day, youngsters will learn various cheers and stunts. All campers will be recognized during a 2019 NCHS football game.

Mo Fountain and Friends Football Camp: Former Camden High, Clemson University and professional football defensive end Maurice "Mo" Fountain will be hosting a one-day youth football camp at Camden High School on Saturday, July 13.
The camp will be hosted by Fountain and will include former college and NFL players as instructors and includes drills, speed and agility and position technique sessions followed by a Q & A session with Fountain and his staff.

Location: Camden High School practice fields behind Wellness Center on York St.
Ages: 8 -17
Cost: $25
Hours: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Golf Camp: Learn the fundamentals of golf or improve your skills in this camp which will have two summer sessions. Matt McCarley, PGA professional and head boys' and girls' golf coach at Camden High will direct the sessions. Beginners through advance golfers are welcome.

Location: Camden Country Club, Knights Hill Road, Camden
Ages: 7 - 17 years old
Hours: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Cost: $85 per camper
Pre-registration is required by noon on June 14 or noon on July 12 by contacting the KCP&RD
CHS Volleyball Camp: This camp is for beginners through intermediate players. Beginners will focus on skill development and work toward game play. Intermediate players will refine their skills and work on more advanced team concepts. Players will be grouped by skill level. Instructing the camp will be Camden High varsity volleyball head coach Paige Wilson with members of her coaching staff and high school players.
Dates: July 15 - 19
Location: Camden High School gym
Ages: 8 & up (beginner - advanced)
Cost: $60 (includes T-shirt) with a $5 reduction for each additional child from the same family
Hours: 9 a.m. - noon

Technical Soccer League (4 weeks): In partnership with the Kershaw County Parks & Recreation, the Technical Soccer League offers a fun and nurturing environment designed to be conducive to long term development. The purpose of the league is to have fun while developing soccer awareness and skills for long term growth. The structure will include two nights of training and a scrimmage day focused on developing over winning. L-E boys' soccer head coach Alan Riches in the camp director.
Dates/hours: July 16 - August 10; Tuesday and Thursday Skill Session: 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.; Saturday morning scrimmage games: 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Location: KC West Complex, 519 Whitehead Road, Lugoff
Ages: 4 - 18
Cost: $80 per camper (includes two T-shirts)
