— Shawe Memorial Junior/Senior High School is in search for a junior high volleyball coach or two. The school is willing to hire one person to coach both the seventh and eighth grade teams or one to coach each.

— The 2019 Hanover College Triple Crown Summer Cross Country Racing Series will be the last three Wednesdays in July at 7 p.m.

The series of summer cross country races designed to test fitness and sharpen summer training increases race distance each week from 3K this Wednesday, to 4K on July 24 and 5K on July 31. The event is run on Hanover's nationally renowed cross country course.

Cost is $4 per race with registration beginning at 6:15 p.m. on night of race.

The cross country program will also hold a Distance Summit Camp from 11:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 21 in the Horner Center on Campus.

The clinic is open to coaches or anyone interested in learning about various elements of distance training, developing runners, and building championship team cultures.

— Hanover College's Athletic Department will hold the 31st annual John R. Smith Alumni & Friends Golf Scramble on Thursday at Dye's Walk Country Club in Greenwood.

The tournament is a four-person scramble format, with proceeds benefiting the Hanover College Athletic Department. Cost for golf, lunch and dinner is $125 per person or $25 per person for dinner only.

— The Andersons' Sales & Service Golf Open will be held on Saturday at Butler Falls Golf Course in Hanover.

Cost is $200 per team and prizes will be awarded for top three finishers and holes in one. Registration time is 9 a.m. with the start scheduled for 9:30 a.m.



— The 28th annual Walnut Street Fire Company No. 4 Golf Scramble will be held Sunday at Sunrise Golf Course in Madison.

The event has a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. and a putting contest starting at 11 a.m. The cost is $50 per golfer or $200 per four-member team. Prizes are awarded to the top three teams as well as various hole prizes and raffles.

— Sign ups are currently under way for the Madison Parks Department's Fall Sports programs.

Tackle football is $75 and is open the those in first through sixth grade. The deadline is July 26.

Flag Football, open the 5-year old through sixth grade, Cheerleading, open to first through sixth grade, and volleyball, open to fourth through sixth grade, each costs $50. Deadline for flag football and cheerleading is Aug. 9; deadline for volleyball is Aug. 16.

— The first official practice for the co-ed Southwestern Middle School soccer team will be held on Monday, Aug. 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

All incoming sixth, seventh and eighth graders at Southwestern Junior and Senior High School that are interested in playing for the upcoming fall season should plan to attend. Practices will be held at the same time Monday through Friday of that week. Sports physicals must be completed in order to participate. A parent/guardian meeting to discuss the Fall 2019 season will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 from 7-7:30 p.m.
