Cheerleaders attend NCA cheerleading camp - Suburbanite

The Barnesville Shamrock Cheerleaders recently attended NCA cheerleading camp at Union Local High School.

The green, red and white were proudly represented with the following cheerleaders being nominated for the All American tryout: Varsity- Lakyn Abrigg, Ava Hanes, Madelyn Skinner and Alana Trigg ; Jr. High- Alivia Campbell, Belle Corder, Zoey Hickenbottom, Ava Sobutka and Tate Spangenburg.

After the final try-out, Varsity cheerleader Alana Trigg was chosen as All American and Junior High cheerleaders chosen were Belle Corder and Tate Spangenburg.

The Varsity squad was awarded the Top Band Chant award and received blue superior ribbons for the whole week.

In the Junior High division, Barnesville was awarded top cheer, an award for tumbling, and also received blue superior ribbons. Varsity Head coach is Lauren King and the Jr. High is coached by Abby McClelland. They are assisted by Taylor Baker and Amy Carvin.

Lauren King was awarded an NCA coaches award for exemplifying the qualities of leadership, values, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and Alana Trigg was also awarded the Pin It Forward award for exemplifying all the characteristics a cheerleader should be.

The cheerleaders will be holding their annual youth cheer clinic July 30 through Aug. 2 for 3 year olds through sixth grade.
