Today-July 31: The Case Core Sports Performance Summer Training Program wants to help area athletes with speed and agility development and other training this summer. It will have various training days in June (June 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28) and July (July 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, 31). The workouts will take place at the Farm located at 2815 Ridgefield Road in Thibodaux. It will start for ages 9-11 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and for ages 12-14 at 10 a.m. The cost is $350 ($20.50 per workout). For information, contact the Farm at 985-316-3044.
Saturday: A sand volleyball tournament will be held on June 29 at The Sandbox volleyball courts located at 710 Corporate Drive in Houma. The tournament will feature four players per team for $100 per team (male, female or co-ed). All levels and ages are welcomed to play. Registration time will start at 2 p.m. June 29 and play will begin at 3 p.m. There will be first and second place prizes given. Proceeds will help Caroline and Averi pursue the world of competitive cheerleading with Kandi Lynn's Cheerleading. Both have made the Ice All-Stars competition team. July 10. The Sports Medicine Center of Thibodaux Regional is hosting a one-day youth basketball clinic July 15 in the Gymnasium at Thibodaux Regional's Wellness Center. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the game from members of the Nicholls State University men's basketball program. Boys and girls ages 7-14 are invited to attend. The clinic will consist of two separate sessions: Session 1 (Ages 7-11, 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) and Session 2 (Ages 12-14, 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m.). The cost of each session is $40. Space is limited to the first 60 participants to register in each session. Those interested can register online at www.thibodaux.com/classes-events. The deadline to register is July 10. July 15-16: H.L. Bourgeois will host a volleyball summer youth skills and drills camp on July 15-16. The camp is for athletes ages 6 through 14. It will take place in H.L. Bourgeois' girls gym. The camp fee is $60 (two or more siblings $50 each). It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day. Checks should be made payable to H.L. Bourgeois High School and check must include a phone number. Mail check to H.L. Bourgeois High School, c/o H.L. Bourgeois volleyball, 1 Reservation Court, Gray, LA 70359.
July 15-18: Assumption High School will host its 2019 Mustang Basketball Camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Assumption's main gym. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-14 (no incoming ninth graders). The cost is $20 per day or $75 for the week. Instructors will include the Assumption High basketball coaching staff and members of the 2019 boys basketball team. You can sign-up online by filling in registration form, taking a picture of it and sending to Assumption head coach Derek Szush or assistant coaches Gil Verner and Henry Hollins through Facebook.
July 15-19: E.D. White Catholic boys soccer coach Roger Bimah will hold his 17th annual goalkeeper camp July 15-19 at the Lafourche Parish Soccer Park in Raceland. The camp will be held from 6-8 p.m. each day and is open for players 10 and up. The cost is $100 and is limited to 10 participants. The deadline to register is July 10. This camp is designed to give the beginning and intermediate campers a formal introduction to serious goalkeeping. Emphasis will be placed on the 10 principles of goalkeeping as well as a comprehensive review of the technical, tactical, conditioning and psychological aspects of the position. It is a demanding program that focuses on improving each camper's proficiency and knowledge of goalkeeping. Campers should bring a ball, shin guards, water, sunscreen and goal keeping equipment. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. July 19 in front of the stadium. The cost of the camp is $50.
