What will be the No. 1 song of the summer of 2019? We can officially begin making our way toward the answer, as Billboard's annual Songs of the Summer chart returns to Billboard.com on Tuesday (June 4).
The 20-position Songs of the Summer running tally tracks the most popular titles based on cumulative performance on the weekly streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day through Labor Day (this year encompassing charts dated June 8 through Sept. 7). At the end of the season, the top song of the summer will be revealed.
Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" (featuring Billy Ray Cyrus), the Hot 100's current leader, ranks at No. 1 on 2019's first Songs of the Summer chart (dated June 8). Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" places at No. 2, followed by Khalid's "Talk" (No. 3), Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's "I Don't Care" (No. 4) and Jonas Brothers' "Sucker" (No. 5).
Last year, Drake's "In My Feelings" wrapped as the No. 1 song of the summer. In 2017, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Bieber, wore the crown, after Drake's "One Dance," featuring WizKid and Kyla, reigned in 2016 and OMI's "Cheerleader" took top honors in 2015.
The previous No. 1 songs of the summer this decade: Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX (2014); Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams (2013); Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" (2012); LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock (2011); and, fittingly, Katy Perry's sunny "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg (2010).
