Actor Sonam Kapoor and her businessman husband Anand Ahuja celebrate their first wedding anniversary on Wednesday. The couple tied the knot in Mumbai on May 8 last year with a lot of pomp and show. From their stunning wedding pics to the enviously awesome videos from the dance floor, it seemed like the entire country was a part of their wedding.
Sharing pictures from her wedding, Sonam had called it 'the most magical two days of our lives'. Soon after the wedding, Sonam took off to the Cannes Film Festival and Anand believes she will ruin his plans again this year. "It's funny. Sonam is always messing on my plans. Last year, she had canned right after the wedding. We didn't do a honeymoon. We did a really short one in Japan," he told MensXP in an interview. "This year, we were again planning to go to Japan but then her Zoya Factor schedule is there and it has changed a bit. We are not going in June, but we will go after her birthday. We are so fortunate that with our schedules, we travel so much and get to spend time. We will be in London for the anniversary. London is a little break for her. We will surely do a Japan trip at the end of the year."
According to reports, Sonam and Anand met in 2014 through her stylist friend Pernia Qureshi. Sonam recently shared pictures from their London trip and revealed how Anand wanted to propose to her at the Oxford library. "So Anand didn't get to propose to me where he was supposed to as he got excited and proposed much before, so he tried to recreate his idea of proposing to me in the Oxford library. (My favourite place is a library!)," she captioned a picture.
She recently also revealed how Anand is her biggest cheerleader. "In cinema world, I was not treated as an equal but treated as a woman. But I realised it soon that women should not compromise. But art is reflection of the society. After marriage, my husband is my cheerleader and as a support he added my name in his middle name and has become Anand Sonam Ahuja," Sonam said in a statement.
Even Anand proved the same when he shared a heartfelt message about how he felt her when he saw her for the first time on the big screen. Talking about her film Delhi-6, Anand wrote, "@sonamkapoor - the first time I ever saw you ... on the screen... at #CinemaVillage in Union Square NYC ... your face looked familiar even though we had never met before ... it was my second year working and your second film. I hadn't been home for a year and went to see the movie just because I was homesick and the title had 'Delhi' in its name ...! I didn't understand the movie completely but the connection it created with its audience was undeniable. This is the power of intention, energy and emotion - that you and @bachchan put so sincerely into the film. It's something I learn from seeing you work till today," he said.
