A man who was accused of an alleged sexual assault has been slammed by viewers for smirking throughout the interview on Channel 4's Sex On Trial.
In September 2016, five members of Minnesota university football team had sexual encounters with a 22-year-old cheerleader who they allege, was fully consensual - but two days later, she reported it to the police as a gang rape.
While the woman claimed she had been assaulted by 10 to 20 men that night, the documentary focused on five. And in last night's episode, Carlton Djam, who played for the Golden Gophers, told how after defeating their opponents some of the team planned a party - and that's when the alleged rape took place.
However, as he revealed his version of how the events of the night in question unfolded, frustrated viewers took to social media to comment on his smile.
'Why the hell is the guy with the dangling earring smirking and laughing. What the hell is wrong with you? Disgusting,' wrote one, while another added: 'I've never wanted to smash my tele more so than tonight!!! Watching and seeing someone who was accused of sexual assault smirking the whole way through!'

At the party, Carlton claimed he met a cheerleader and a 17-year-old high school student who was in town for a trial with the team - known as a recruit.
'Her and the recruit start kissing and everything,' he explained. 'The recruit took his shirt off and then I took my shirt off, she took her pants off and then unbuttoned her one-piece. She was really giggly.'
'I laid on the bed and she started giving me oral sex and then the recruit had sex with her from behind. The recruit left and then we had intercourse. She was pretty happy.'
He claimed that fellow football player Tamarion Johnson (TJ) then came into the room - while the others followed shortly after.
Ray Buford explained: 'I'm downstairs and I get a Face time from Carlton. He tells me him and a recruit had just had sex with a cheerleader so I was like I'm going to come up there and see who it is because I'm curious. She was like super excited to see me. She proceeded to pull my pants down, gave me oral sex and then put on a condom and we had sex'
Speaking of the night in question, Tamarion Johnson explained: 'I went in the room and I said 'what's up?' and she said 'what's up?' I said do you want to have sex and she said yes'
The cheerleader, who identity remains anonymous, reported the night's events as gang rape to the police, and the five football players were interrogated and gave DNA samples.
'Carlton knocked on my door, I came out and he told me him and a recruit had sex with a girl,' explained TJ. 'He said she was easy to have sex with. I went in the room and I said "what's up?" and she said "what's up?" I said "do you want to have sex?" and she said "yes".'
Ray Buford added: 'I'm downstairs and I get a FaceTime from Carlton. He tells me him and a recruit had just had sex with a cheerleader so I went up there to see who it was because I was curious.'
'I had no intentions of doing anything but on the way up I ran into two of my teammates. I honestly didn't even tell them a girl was there but they followed me.'
'She was like super excited to see me. She proceeded to pull my pants down, gave me oral sex and then put on a condom and we had sex.'

The victim reportedly said she believed she was 'being held down' during some moments and that she remembered 'trying to push people off her by pushing on their stomachs and being unsuccessful'.

A key piece of evidence was a 90 second video filmed by Carlton and the recruit, which depicted Carlton sitting on his bed with his legs spread. She is on her knees and elbows, chest facing down. All three are naked.

After reviewing the video it was decided she was in control of the situation – not the two young men.
That 90 second video involved just two of the football players. None of the sexual encounters that took place between the other men was filmed. It was ruled there was insufficient evidence to prove non-consensual sex occurred.
Meanwhile, a University of Minnesota investigation continued which ultimately led to the expulsion and suspension of some of the players from university.
The accused football players are currently suing the university for 45 million dollars in lost future earning on the basis of racial and gender discrimination.
