Extreme Spirit Allstarz (ESA), a local all-star cheerleading training facility, recently announced that four of its teams have landed a spot on the national stage. All four teams have been selected to compete at cheerleading competitions for small gyms, The D2 Summit, held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort May 10-12.

D2 Summit is referred to by many as the "Superbowl" of D2 cheerleading.

"Teams competing at The D2 Summit must receive a bid at a prior competition to be eligible to participate," said Brian Elza, co-general manager for Varsity All Star. "That's what makes The D2 Summit so rewarding for the competitors. If they don't climb their way to the top throughout their season, they won't make it to The Summit."

All four ESA cheer teams did just that and clinched their spots in the upcoming national D2 Summit during the 2018-2019 competitive season by beating out numerous, often much larger, teams.

In the world of competitive cheerleading, it is difficult for even one team from a program to receive a bid invitation to the D2 Summit, so for all four of ESA's D2 Summit eligible teams to end their season with bids is a true honor and testament to the hard work, dedication, and skill of the athletes and their coaches.

All four teams will compete in a semi-final round by performing a two and half minute routine filled with jumps, stunts, tumbling, and dance. The top teams from semi-finals will advance to finals to fight for the chance to win D2 Summit rings and National bragging rights.

ESA represents a discipline of cheerleading that is open to all ages and skill levels. They will take any athlete aged three to 18 years old regardless of cheer experience or skill level and give them the tools they need to succeed in the sport. ESA offers travel and non-travel teams.

Gym owners April and Neil Holleman and ESA's USASF certified coaches are dedicated to sharing their passion for cheer with others and have created a program that is tailored to the needs of athletes and of the community. ESA boasts two locations, one in Wilkesboro and another in Yadkinville, so that they can better serve the community.

For more information on ESA, visit www.esacheer.com or visit in person to ask questions and to register for the 2019-2020 season. Registration and evaluations for Wilkes (308 Cothren St, Wilkesboro) are Thursday, May 16 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 1 – 3 p.m. Registration and evaluations for Yadkin (2062 Old US 421 W, Yadkinville) are Saturday, May 18 from 4 – 6 p.m. and Tuesday, May 21 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. ESA is excited to welcome more athletes from Wilkes, Yadkin, and the surrounding areas to join the ESA family as they dive into season eight.
