BOSTON — Maine Stars Cheer Gym recently returned home with several accolades from the JamFest Nationals, which was presented by Varsity Spirit and held at the Hynes Convention Center. Eight teams comprised of prep and all-star travel groups were sent to represent MSCG in the weekend long competition.
JamFest was the first competition of the season for all three prep teams from MSCG — Junior Prep Scorch, Mini Prep Sizzle and Tiny Prep Fireflies. Each team placed first in its respective division.
The all-star travel teams were just as good. Junior Level 3 Flame and Youth Level 2 Spark were named National Champions in their divisions,. Senior Restricted Level 5 Rage landed in third place among tough competition, and Senior Level 4.2 Inferno took second place. The weekend ended with Senior Level 5 Glory named Grand Champions with the highest score of the weekend of all level five competitors.
Each of the five travel teams have received invitations to prestigious, season-ending events held in Orlando, Florida, later this spring. R5-Rage, J3-Flame, Y2-Spark, and S4.2-Inferno will all be heading to D2 Summit in May. Introduced in 2013, D2 Summit is designed for cheer gyms with less than 125 athletes. Meanwhile, X5-Glory was adorned with an all-expenses-paid invitation to the Cheerleading World Championships held in April, which is limited to Senior Level 5 and 6 teams. All MSCG teams head back to prepare for the Lady Bug Classic held at the Whittemore Center at the University of NH in April.
In its 18th year, Maine Stars Cheer Gym is located in Eliot, Maine and draws members from border towns such as York, Kennebunk, the Berwicks, Scarborough, Wells and New Hampshire with team members from Dover, Madbury, Rochester, Barrington, Hampton, Belmont and Strafford.
