Grace Robinson has concluded her time as Student of the Week for Jody Munsterman's fourth grade classroom at Crescent City Grade School. Her dad, Michael, works for 911, and her mom, Jeanna, works at Harbor House. She has a younger brother, Carter, and a dog, Angel. Her nickname is Gracie, which was given to her by her church family.
She and her family attend Gilman First Church of the Nazarene, where she sings in the church choir; she enjoys reading, fishing and riding her bike; she plays clarinet as a member of the 4th grade band and she loves cheerleading. Her best friends are Maya and Skylar. Blue is her favorite color, math is her preferred school subject, and the panda bear is her favorite animal. Rachel Renee Russell is her favorite author, and her favorite books are Russell's "Dork Diaries." Christmas is her favorite holiday, "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" is her favorite TV show, she loves wearing t-shirts and the Iroquois West Raiders are her favorite team.
Her favorite athlete is her cousin, Owen Robinson, who plays on the IW football team; Ed Sheeran is her favorite singer and her favorite song is "Castle on the Hill." Mrs. (Kristin) Zack and Mrs. Munsterman are her favorite teachers so far, and pizza is her favorite food. Her favorite meal of the day is breakfast and her breakfast item is muffins. Her favorite veggies are snap green peas and her favorite fruit is oranges. Her favorite restaurant is Taco Bell.
Her lucky number is 7 and that's because "I was 7 when I went to Tennessee for the first time." Her favorite toy as a child was "a teddy bear" she received from "my Grandma and Grandpa."
Asked about her ideas on education, she said, "Education is very important. I don't think that there should be any changes to the educational system. Education means a lot to me." She does expect technology to be the biggest change in education over the next 25 years. The most important lessons so far in 4th grade have been "math and English language (ELA)." She also likes that CCGS continues to have 8th grade graduation, something she says she hopes they keep "because graduation gives kids something to be proud of how far they have come." Her favorite thing in 4th grade is "when Mrs. M plays the piano."
She's looking forward to middle/junior high as "I cannot wait to do Speech" and she hopes to attend Iroquois West High School as "my parents and aunt went there." Eventually she wants to go to college to become a pediatrician and that's the reason she would never run for US President: "I would rather be a baby doctor."
Twenty years from now she hopes to be working in a doctor's office. If she could live anywhere in the world it would be "Paris, France, because that is my dream place to go."
If invited to give a public speech on nationwide television, she said "I would talk about lots of educational things such as new books for students. I think this because not everyone likes hand-me-downs."
Her birthday is in August and her idea of the perfect birthday would be to go to a water park with dinner to follow. Her favorite cake flavor is chocolate and her favorite ice cream is cookies and cream. Her most memorable birthday gift was a Paris poster.
Her pet peeve is "when my friends talk when it's suppose to be quiet."
Her suggestion to improve the school is "less technology and more books."
Something she feels she is old enough and responsible enough to have, but her parents don't think so, is "a Chromebook." Born in an age of great technological inventions, to Grace, the greatest inventions for her to use are "phones or iPods so that you can contact someone if there is an emergency, such as a fire." Her idea of the "perfect day" is "sitting on the couch reading books."
Asked to answer this scenario: You're sitting in the classroom and start to daydream. What is your daydream about? She answered, "Playing with my brother, Carter, after school." She was also told, "You've just been given a large box of Lego's – what are you going to build?" and she responded, "An Eifel tower." With Easter just around the corner, she is hoping to find books in her Easter basket this year.
Mrs. Munsterman had this to say about her student: "Grace is grounded and knows right from wrong. She is kind to all her classmates and willing to help her peers when necessary. She is dependable. I envision Grace in a future career working with people, perhaps the medical field!"
