Elie Bouka is back with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Riders announced Tuesday that the national defensive back has signed a one-year deal with the CFL team. He was selected by the Riders in the third round (24th overall) of the 2016 CFL draft out of the University of Calgary.
The Riders drafted Bouka even though he had signed a free-agent contract with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals prior to the CFL draft. He was placed on Arizona's injured-reserve list for the 2016 season after suffering pre-season hamstring injury.
Bouka (6-foot-1, 205 pounds) was waived by the Cardinals on Aug. 1, 2017. He later joined the Riders, recording three special-teams tackles in four games during the 2017 season before being released to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was released by the Eagles on Feb. 21 after missing the 2018 season with an undisclosed injury.
Bouka played four seasons (2012 to 2015) with the U of C Dinos, switching from receiver to defensive back in 2013. As a defensive back, he recorded 24 1/2 defensive tackles and one interception. He added 16 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
