LEIPSIC — Olivia Nunez, 17, is a senior at Leipsic High School and looking forward to college.

What her college experience will look like is uncertain at this point as she continues to enjoy her final year.

She's been pretty busy with a variety of activities.

"I'm in band. I'm a varsity cheerleader. I'm vice president of NHS (National Honor Society)," she said.

Volunteering is also part of who she is.

"With NHS we go out and play bingo at The Meadows," she said.

She's also played there as a member of the band, where she plays the mellophone.

"It's almost like a trumpet but it's like deeper. I used to play trumpet," she said.

You might have caught her at Leipsic football or basketball games cheering on the Vikings.

"I like the atmosphere of the games, getting the crowd pumped up," she said.

She's also a member of the track team.

"I mostly did relays, like the 4x4, and sometimes I did the 4x8 or the 4x2, the high jump is what I was best at," she said.

She appreciates the social aspects of being a cheerleader and an athlete.

"I like being able to meet new people through being in those activities," she said.

She carries about a 4.0 grade point average and has taken advantage of College Credit Plus courses as she plans her next move post high school.

Her favorite course, she says, is history.

She is still undecided on what she'll study in college.

"I want to go to Ohio State," she said.

She says her experience at Leipsic High School has been a positive one and appreciates her classmates.

"The diversity of the people. I like the teachers," she said.
