The dance and cheer championships took place Friday and Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
In 5A cheer, Highland High School of Pocatello took first place, with Madison High School in second and Eagle in third, according to the Idaho High School Activities Association.
In the 4A cheer competition, Nampa High School took third place overall, behind Idaho Falls and state champions Bonneville High School.
Weiser High School's cheer squad took first place overall in the 3A division, and Oakley High School won in the 2A division.
Local teams ranked in several cheer categories. In the 5A division, Meridian won first place in stunt coed, Eagle won second place in show cheer (all girl), Mountain View won second place in show cheer (coed), Centennial and Eagle won second and third place, respectively, in sideline cheer, and Eagle and Centennial won second and third place, respectively, in pom.
In the 4A division, Nampa High School took first place in stunt (coed), second place in show cheer (coed) and sideline cheer, and fourth place in pom.
