KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Thousands ran the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon Sunday morning.

One couple tackled a goal together and ran hand in hand.

"Huge accomplishment for me, he was great," said Michelle Brown, who ran the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon. "He was my cheerleader."

A half marathon can be hard to accomplish, but Michelle Brown said having her husband by her side made it easier.

"We work out together and exercise together, so just a personal goal," said Michelle.

Daniel is not new to running marathons, but the Knoxville Marathon was Michelle's first.

"We live in Georgia and Michelle grow up here in Knoxville, so this meant a lot for her to come back home and run her first half marathon," said Daniel Brown, who ran the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon.

"I grew up here, ran right past Fort Sanders where I was born, so really brought it all home," said Michelle.

Michelle said it takes a lot of time, dedication, and daycare bills to train for a big race. She was able to reach a goal with her husband every step of the way.

"This is my number 1 fan, so it meant a lot having him," said Michelle.
